Lexus LF-LC Blue
Some want a range-topper, some want an entry-level model
Lexus recently built the 500th and last LFA, but that hasn't stopped executives from pushing for a new halo model.
Speaking to Automotive News, Lexus Executive Vice President Kazuo Ohara said "If we want to build a more emotional brand, then we need a halo car." He stopped short of saying a model is in the works, but hinted the brand is "seriously considering" a new coupe.
Unfortunately, the company is at a crossroads as various executives are on both sides of the debate. Global Marketing Chief Mark Templin admits the company got "more out of the LFA" than he anticipated, but wants to focus on capturing younger buyers instead of building a halo vehicle. As he explained, "You don't see a lot of movement between brands in the luxury space" so it's best to attract customers to your camp before they buy a rival product.
