New details are starting to emerge about Rolls-Royce's upcoming crossover.

In an interview with Autocar, Rolls-Royce Design Director Giles Taylor revealed the model will be "nearly as long" as the Phantom and have a "very proud, very modern" front fascia.

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten M ller- tv s added the crossover will be a "genuine Rolls-Royce from the ground up" thanks to its new aluminum architecture.  He went on to say this is important as it "shows that our car isn't simply going to be a differently styled [BMW] X7."

While the company has been tight-lipped about the model, the magazine is reporting the crossover will be launched in 2017 and feature an upgraded version of the Phantom's 6.75-liter V12 engine.  There's no word on specifications but the engine currently produces 453 bhp (460 PS / 338 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque.

The publication is also reporting the model will carry a base price of approximately 250,000 - 280,000 ($386,117 - $432,488).
