Will have 1,341 bhp
Koenigsegg has released a short teaser clip of their
upcoming
Regera
,
confirming the megacar will adopt a plug-in hybrid system.
The video shows an electrically-operated cap making
extensive use of carbon fiber while the attached spy shots reveal a
substantially different design compared to recent Koenigsegg models. Noticeable
are the vented rear fenders and a massive diffuser hosting a large central oval
exhaust while the slender LED taillights have an interesting shape.
Koenigsegg says the Regera will be a "megacar" just like the
One:1
which means it will have a maximum power output of 1,341 bhp (986 kW). However,
while the One:1 is powered exclusively by a twin-turbo V8 5.0-liter engine, the
Regera is
believed
to adopt a 690 bhp (515 kW) electric motor so the conventional engine will
generate less power than the V8 inside the One:1.
The latest gossip refers to the Regera as being the fastest
accelerating car in the world. We will find out if this is true on Tuesday when
Koenigsegg will unveil the car in Geneva.
