Could be previewed by a concept next month in Geneva

The next generation Volkswagen CC has been speculatively rendered in R-Line guise based on the latest Passat (B8).

Volkswagen has already confirmed a new CC is in the works and chances are it will be ready for a 2017 market launch. Reports are indicating we will be able to catch a first glimpse of the Passat "four-door coupe" as early as next month at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show through a near-production concept previewing the second generation of the model.

Compared to the standard Passat upon which it will be based, the new CC will reportedly be 101mm (4 inches) longer at 4868mm (191.6 inches) and will adopt a more sloped roofline which will enable a sleeker profile but at the same time it will also have a negative impact on rear headroom. Unlike the current model which has a sedan rear trunk opening, the new CC could boast a more practical rear liftgate.

Volkswagen of America CEO Michael Horn said almost a year ago they are studying two versions for the new CC and one of them is a fastback model. Moreover, he also mentioned the US-spec version could be built locally to avoid import costs as well as unfavorable exchange rates.
