Chevrolet Bolt could be renamed to avoid confusion with the Volt

Model is slated to go into production next year

Chevrolet recently announced plans to put the Bolt concept into production and a new report is indicating it could be renamed by the time it arrives at dealerships.

In an interview with The Detroit Free Press, GM North America President Alan Batey said some people are confused by the similarities between the Bolt and Volt names. As a result, the company is considering renaming the production model.

Batey said nothing has been decided but "It could go either way." Regardless of which name the company chooses, a decision is likely a ways off as Batey revealed a final determine could take as long as a year.

As a refresher, the Bolt is an electric vehicle that will cost approximately $30,000 and have a range in excess of 200 miles (322 km).
