Hennessey HPE700 Mustang: Hellcat Beware

Hennessey Performance is known for turning quick cars into some seriously fast machines. Founder John Hennessey's latest creation certainly isn't his fastest project, but it is still a force to be reckoned with. John Hennessey drove his personal HPE700 450 miles down to the Continental Tires Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas so that he could test its top speed down the 1.1 mile straight. The results are pretty staggering. Watch the video after the break to see John Hennessey perform a top speed test in his personal 2015 Hennessey Performance HPE700 Ford Mustang GT.

Looking like pure evil in ominous black paint, the 2015 Hennessey Performance HPE700 Ford Mustang GT packs a supercharged version of the coyote 5.0L V8 that's good for a whopping 717 horsepower. That is 10hp more than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The 2.9L Roots-type supercharger, running at 7.25 psi of boost, is also bigger than the 2.4L blower found in the Challenger Hellcat. All this extra power accelerates the hopped up 'Stang from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds, rip through the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 131mph, and as Mr. Hennessey recently found out, it keeps going all the way to a top speed of 195.2mph. However, immediately after exiting the vehicle, John Hennessey said that he believes that 200mph is possible. This is because it was still accelerating once it hit the rev limiter, and there was still more track ahead.

As you can expect, prices for the HPE700 package is not cheap. Hennessey Performance says that the HPE700 package will start at $59,500 USD, not including the donor 2015 Ford Mustang GT. If you are interested in this beastly pony car, you better act quickly as Hennessey Performance is limiting production to just 500 units for 2015.
