Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero / Shogun replacement delayed - report

2007 Mitsubishi Pajero

Pushed back to 2015 at the earliest

Mitsubishi's head of Projects & Strategy has revealed some new details about the next-generation Pajero (aka Montero and Shogun).

Speaking to journalist at the Geneva Motor Show, Ryugo Nakao confirmed a redesign of the company's flagship model has been pushed back until 2015 at the earliest. As he explained, Mitsubishi has limited resources and greater priorities so the "current Pajero must go on for at least two to three more years."

Despite the delay, Nakao revealed the company is committed to a Pajero successor and they are currently considering "how to evolve it." The executive declined to go into specifics, but hinted the next-generation model would be more luxurious and retain its off-road credentials. He also suggested there could be PHEV variant which could be similar to the Outlander PHEV.
