Arriving late 2013 / early 2014

Our spies have sent us a fresh batch of photos with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class due late this year on in early 2014.

The next-gen C-Class (W205) is likely to feature a new set of wider wraparound headlights taking design cues from the CLS and will most likely be positioned higher. The front grille will probably have a more oval shape, while the overall look of the car will be sportier than current C-Class (W204).

It will benefit from the MRA platform and is expected to have a curb weight of less than 1,380 kg (3,042 lbs) for the base C160 model. Despite going on a diet, the next-gen C-Class will probably be 100mm longer (about 4700mm) with 80mm of the added length reserved for the wheelbase.

Power will come from longitudinally-mounted 4-cylinder and V6 engines with output varying from 184 hp (137 kW) to 330 hp (246 kW). A gasoline-electric hybrid model featuring a 27 hp (20 kW) electric motor is also in the pipeline for a possible 2015 launch, while the range-topping AMG variant will get a V8 4.0- or a 5.5-liter engine. The facelifted variant will be out in 2017 and will bring a nine-speed automatic transmission.
