Lamborghini has officially released their new 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster ahead of its public debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show at the end of this month. The new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster is a completely open vehicle based up on the Aventador Coupe.
The roof features a removable, two-piece carbon fiber system. The choice for a removable hard top is two-fold. It allows for a streamlined manufacturing process, as the rear section of the Roadster is quite identical to that of the standard car. The two parts are removable and simple to attach. They can be stored in the front luggage compartment.
The two-piece roof is made entirely from carbon fiber using various technologies such as RTM and Forged Composite. These technologies guarantee maximum aesthetic performance and stiffness although each component is extremely light, weighing less than 6kg.
The rear pillar has been redesigned to offer total support for the removable roof, accommodate an automatic protection system for passengers, and provide the engine compartment with ample ventilation.
The engine hood on the Roadster differs from the hood on the coupe because of its central “spinal column” with two pairs of hexagonal windows connected at the sides. Their purpose is to cool the engine, drain off rain water properly and allow visibility to the engine.
A wind deflector rests on the front windshield frame and can likewise be stored in the luggage compartment when not in use. A powered rear windshield controls the experience of the sound from the twelve-cylinder engine. You can open it to experience the engine fully.
The new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster boasts a centrally located, 6.5 liter aspirated V12 generating 700hp, an ISR seven-speed gearbox and push-rod suspension. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in only three seconds flat and has a maximum speed of some 350km/h. These figures are all similar to the coupe.
The range of colors has been supplemented with a very light, metallic blue color, Azzuro Thetis, whose tone varies with the angle of the light and recalls the shade of the beautiful 1968 Miura Roadster. The Roadster sports a two-tone finish, as the windshield pillar, the two roof sections and the rear window area up to the “fins” are painted in gloss black. The new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster rolls on new Dione 20/21 inch rims.
The 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster will get a price tag of 300,000 euro, excluding taxes.
