1959 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Tour de France




The RM Auctions London leg came to a close with a total of more than 15 million pounds. Topping the list was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta ‘Tour de France’ that sold for 1,960,000, which was one of 12 "Tour de France" prototypes built in 1959. It was sold to a resident of Torino, Italy.



The car has won several races including the the GT class at Monza 1959 where it finished second overall. It also finished the Bolzano-Mendola and San Bernardo hill climbs. In 2002, it was bought by the consignor who restored it in Brescia, Italy,

A 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Testa Fissa which was Tourist Trophy race winner driven by Tazio Nuvolari came second in the auctions at 784,000. Third was a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible used in the 1965′s Goldfinger James Bond movie and it sold for 632,800, followed by a 1937 Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio Cabriolet at 616,000 and a 2008 Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 at 579,600.



A 1952 Bentley Continental R-Type Fastback Sports Saloon was sixth at 532,000 while a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster sold at 448,000 followed by a 1998 Ferrari F300 Formula One Racing Car at 400,000 and a 1970 Lamborghini Miura P400S at 397,600.



The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 once owned by Paul McCartney closed the top ten list selling at 344,400.
