2015 Jeep Renegade live in New York
Will be offered with two engines
Jeep has released some new details about the US-spec Renegade at the New York Auto Show.
The entry-level Renegade Sport comes sparsely equipped with power windows / locks, a tilt / telescope steering wheel and a relatively basic UConnect 3.0 infotainment system. The model also has a four-speaker audio system, a 60/40 split-folding rear bench and 16-inch steel wheels.
Moving up the Renegade Latitude rewards owners with fog lights, body color door handles, privacy glass and 16-inch polished aluminum wheels. The model also features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system and a Uconnect infotainment system with a five-inch touchscreen display.
The Renegade Limited adds a revised grille, chrome mirrors and 18-inch polished aluminum wheels. Other highlights include Nappa leather seats, heated front seats and a digital instrument cluster. There's also floor mats, a dual-zone automatic climate control system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
While the aforementioned models are geared for the street, the Renegade Trailhawk has an increased ride height, skid plates and unique bumpers that improve the approach and departure angles. The model also has hill decent control, a Jeep Active Drive Low four-wheel drive system, a Rock mode and exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels with "aggressive on-road and off-road tires."
Under the hood, two engines will be available. The 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder produces 160 bhp (119 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque, while the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder churns out 184 bhp (137 kW) and 177 lb-ft (236 Nm) of torque. The latter engine is connected exclusively to a nine-speed automatic transmission that promises to deliver "aggressive launches, smooth power delivery at highway speeds and improved fuel efficiency versus competitive six-speed automatic transmissions."
