On-board clip with 1993 Citroen AX 14D lapping the ‘Ring in 9:55 is amazing

Chasing the 'perfect lap' for 7 years

A highly motivated and skilled driver of a modest 1993 Citroën AX 14D managed to lap the Nürburgring (bridge to gantry) in an amazing 9 minutes and 55 seconds.

The McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and LaFerrari might be dueling for the 'Ring crown but the honorary award should go to this 1993 Citroën AX 14D or better said, to the driver behind the wheel. After seven years of attempts, nine engines, five gearboxes and 118 laps, he managed to complete the run in less than ten minutes with an impressive time of 9m 55s.

The AX 14D packs a 52 bhp (39 kW) punch from a diesel engine and was left mostly stock as the driver changed only the front tires with Yokohama Advan A048s, increased the fuel pressure, installed a strutbar, xenon headlights and an aluminum intake from a 1.5D engine while the cabin was stripped out of unnecessary weight.
