To have an angled design

A prototype of the Hyundai ix25 compact crossover has been spied up close while conducting winter testing ahead of a very possible reveal later this year.

Set to slot underneath the ix35, Hyundai's petite crossover seems to adopt an angled design and an upward sweeping beltline. Given the compact dimensions of the model, it's no wonder the rear doors appear to be quite narrow while the overall design closely mimics current Hyundai models while sending out a bit of a Kia Soul vibe.

The Hyundai ix25 will ride on the i20 platform from where it will probably borrow the engine lineup while production will take place in China and will be conducted by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture. A variety of small 4-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines will be offered to keep the model cheap and economical.

Various reports are indicating an April unveiling at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show so the model could go on sale before the end of the year.
