Redesigned 2012 Honda CR-V To Launch On Schedule

Good news for family buyers waiting for the new 2012 Honda CR-V small crossover SUV: Honda plans to launch the redesigned CR-V on schedule.

This comes just a week after Honda warned that supply shortages caused by Thai floods could delay the debut of the popular crossover.

As reported in Automotive News (subscription required) via TheCarConnection, Honda notified its dealer body by memo yesterday that the 2012 Honda CR-V would arrive on-time after all.

What had been at issue were "a few critical electronic parts" sourced from Thailand for the CR-V. That problem has apparently been resolved.

John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales, told dealers in the memo that Honda has made "significant progress in finding alternative manufacturing facilities or new suppliers or parts that are currently sourced from Thailand."

With the CR-V being one of its core products, Honda is undoubtedly doing everything it can to ensure consumers can get their hands on the 2012 model according to launch schedule.

Through October, Honda has posted CR-V sales of 180,361, up 11.1 percent over year-ago levels. The CR-V is Honda's third best-selling product, behind the Accord and Civic, with year-to-date sales of 203,603 and 183,557, respectively.

Look for the production version of the five-passenger 2012 Honda CR-V to bow at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show next week, while the crossover should be in dealer showrooms in December.
