Porsche 918 Spyder revealed in production guise

Porsche 918 Spyder production version 15.8.2013

Will be shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

Porsche has tweeted a photo of the "latest production version" of the 918 Spyder.

Set to be showcased at Pebble Beach, the model looks virtually identical to the pre-production prototype that made its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year.

Porsche didn't have much to say about the car but previously confirmed it will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 engine, two electric motors and a 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The engine produces 608 HP (447 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque, while the motors contribute 156 HP (115 kW) and 129 HP (95 kW). This setup enables the car to have a combined maximum output of 887 HP (661 kW) and more than 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

Thanks to these impressive numbers, the 918 Spyder can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 7.9 seconds and 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) in 23.0 seconds. Given enough room, the model can eventually hit a top speed in excess of 340 km/h (211 mph). More importantly, the Porsche 918 Spyder will average approximately 3.3 L/100km (85.6 mpg UK / 71.2 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of roughly 79 g/km.
