Mazda RX-8 Spirit launched

Mazda will double its final production run of the Japan-only Mazda RX-8 Spirit R limited edition to commemorate the car's nine years of service coming to an end in June.



The rotary-engined RX-8 Spirit R features bigger brakes, red calipers, leather-wrapped steering wheel, hand brake lever and shift-knob, and piano-black trim highlights on the transmission tunnel.



Mazda says 66 per cent of orders have been for the manual transmission model, which includes Recaro bucket seats, firmer suspension with Bilstein dampers, aluminium pedals and bronze 19-inch forged aluminium wheels.



Those who enjoy self-shifting gearboxes get a unique set-up with heated black leather power seats with memory function, sports suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels.



One of the privileges offered on the Mazda RX-8 Rotary Engine R is the Spirit. Mazda RX-8 Spirit R will be powered by Renesis rotary engine, with a capacity of 1.3 liter Twin rotor. System on a twin-rotor rotary engine was capable of producing power up to 232 hp at 8500 rpm and 211 Nm at 5500 rpm of torque. The engine will be combined with 6 speed automatic transmission system with electronic controls.



Mazda rotary engine and Mazda RX-8 Spirit R is a breakthrough technology that has been put Mazda on the pole position in terms of innovation. "Therefore, the development of the rotary engine will continue to do," said Keizo Okue, one of the party leadership of Mazda.
