More SVR models on the way

Land Rover has confirmed more SVO models are on the way and the first of the series will be based on the Defender.

Although set to be replaced very soon, the aging Defender is about to receive the Special Vehicle Operations treatment as one last special edition has been confirmed for next year's launch. Without going too much into details, SVO boss John Edwards said the vehicle will be a mixture between the race-spec Camel Trophy and Paris-Dakar variants.

Other SVO-branded products will follow as Edward mentions the 500-employee division is focusing on four areas of expertise: special vehicles, personalization, heritage and branded goods. Besides performance versions like the Range Rover Sport SVR and all-terrain vehicles like the upcoming Defender, Edwards says SVO will also tweak luxury models within the JLR group.

It's still up for debate whether the division will come up with hot diesel-powered models while the implementation of SVO in Jaguar models is still being analyzed.
