Audi confirms third body style for TT, likely crossover

Audi confirms third body style for TT, likely crossover

Likely an evolution of the TT offroad concept

Audi has confirmed development of a third body style TT, after the coupe and the upcoming roadster.

Back in April at the Beijing Motor Show we saw the TT offroad concept and it seems a production version is currently in the works. Speaking at the third-gen TT's launch in Spain, Audi development chief Ulrich Hackenberg said a new body style is in the pipeline for the TT. Although an exact identity was not disclosed, Hackenberg did say the aforementioned concept "provides an insight into how we might envisage a new model in a future TT family."

With so many Q-labeled crossovers already on sale and in development (Q1, Q8), we're wondering if there really is a need for a TT-based crossover and if there's actually room for it in Audi's ever growing lineup. More interesting would be to see a production version of the allroad shooting brake concept but Audi knows how to do business so we'll likely see a new crossover.

Until the third body style arrives, we will see the TT Roadster in about three weeks at the Paris Motor Show.
