Fiat could decide to concentrate all next-gen 500 production in Poland, according to various reports.

Three different sources have told Automotive News Europe that Fiat will stop making the U.S.-spec Fiat 500 at Chrysler's plant in Mexico from 2015 when the next-generation of the city car will arrive. By making this move, more work will be transferred to the Tychy factory which has been in trouble since Fiat decided to move production of the Panda to Italy.

Both Fiat and Chrysler spokesmen refused to discuss the next generation Fiat 500 which the same sources say is slated for a 2015 launch. If this turns out to be true, both European and U.S.-spec models will be identical, unlike the current Fiat 500 which has important structural differences between the European model and the American one.

If Fiat will build the next-gen 500 only at the factory located in southern Poland, it means it will free capacity at Chrysler's Toluca plant where they could start making more core models for the North American region.
