LV One Slip-On Exhaust

It is not an easy decision when it comes to making the purchase of an aftermarket exhaust. The smartest solution is to make a complete research before you make your final decision or to go the easiest way and choose a model that was especially developed for your bike.

If you are a BMW R1200GS rider, LeoVince USA makes your job easier, with its new LV One slip-on exhaust which is especially developed for the 2013 R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure. Compared to the stock exhaust, the LV One is slightly lighter and also comes with a removable EVO II sound insert that gives you the possibility to adjust the tone and lowers the dB levels.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo First Drive

2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo images

The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo is one of the most talked-about models in the subcompact segment right now. This is because a lot of car experts and famous vehicle enthusiasts have expected so much from the LTZ as well as from the other Chevrolet Sonic trims.

No one could actually blame them since the Sonic was produced as the replacement for the unpopular Chevrolet Aveo that was discontinued and these experts have hoped for a more desirable vehicle. Unfortunately, they have found a lot of downsides on the vehicle instead of strengths. Due to these downsides many car buyers are currently wondering as to what the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo sedan could offer.

The Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo sedan actually offers a relatively exciting ride. The turbocharged 1.4-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine used on the LTZ pumps out a maximum power output of up to 138 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft of torque. These figures were actually impressive knowing that the LTZ Turbo is a subcompact car.

In fact, the engine used on the LTZ Turbo is regarded as the most powerful in the segment. However, the noise generated by the vehicle's tires when running and its buzzy nature when it is accelerating somehow ruined the overall quality of the ride provided by this subcompact sedan. Although this particular problem is usually ironed-out by the car manufacturer to make their vehicles more comfortable, Chevrolet has failed to deal with the excessive amount of road noise that reaches the vehicle's cabin.

In addition to this, the abundance of hard plastic on the vehicle's interior is also considered as one of its disappointing features. This could be a major downside on the part of the Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo since most of its closest competitors have well-designed interiors and the materials that were used by them are quite upscale. This condition actually suggests that General Motors somehow committed an error in cutting the expenses allocated in making the interior of the Sonic.

Finally, The sedan's exterior design was also criticized for its lack of physical appeal that a lot of buyers would usually use as their primary basis when buying a subcompact car. The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo looks like a shrunk version of the Chevy Cruze minus the dominating looks and design. Due to these, many car experts believe that the Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo sedan will have a hard time in dealing with the competition within the subcompact segment.

2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic

2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic

Just last month we speculated that the Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic could be getting a new engine, specifically a de-tuned 3.5-liter V-6 that could be shared with an entry-level E Class sedan.

We still don't have news on the rumored new E300, but Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that 2013 C300 4Matic models will benefit from a direct-injection 3.5-liter V-6, good for 248 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. That's a considerable jump from last year's 3.0-liter V-6, which produced 228 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.

While Mercedes-Benz hasn't published fuel economy numbers just yet, the addition of ECO Start/Stop (and gasoline direct injection) tells us to expect slightly better numbers than last year's 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

The same 3.5-liter V-6 is used to power the C350 Coupe and C350 Sport Sedan, where it's tuned to produce 302 horsepower and 273 pound feet of torque. It also sees duty in the E350 models, with the same level of output.

Mercedes-Benz has made some expansive changes to its lineup for 2013, in an effort to both modernize product and attract new customers. Look for a serious increase in new models to hit U.S. dealers in coming years, too, as Mercedes Benz introduces the new A Class, B Class and CLA sedan.

Man builds a life-sized Tonka Mighty Wrecker

Boys will be boys

Tonka Trucks might have fallen out of favor with today's youth, but for an older generation there's nothing quite like the classic construction vehicles.

While most adults simply cherish their memories or collect the toys, Wisconsin native Brad Doane decided to go a step further by building a full-size model that draws inspiration from the Tonka Mighty Wrecker.

Using parts from a 1984 Chevrolet pickup, Doane set to work building a real-life Tonka truck that resembles the one his mother picked up at a charity auction. The build process took almost a year but Doane is happy with the results as he explained "When you're driving down the road and you meet people, it's not like they give a double take; it's like a triple take."

2014 Mercedes GLA spied yet again

2014 Mercedes GLA spied yet again

2014 Mercedes CLA spy photo 18.7.2013 / Automedia

Preparing for its Frankfurt debut

Development work continues on the Mercedes GLA as our spies have caught the model undergoing testing ahead of its Frankfurt debut.

Previewed by the GLA concept, the production model appears to eschew the aggressive styling and adopt a familiar design which closely echoes the A-Class. As a result, the crossover resembles a high-riding hatchback with a two-bar grille, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and bulging rear fenders.

Engine options, likely virtually everything else, will be shared with the A-, B- and CLA-Class. This means choices should include:

  • A 1.8-liter diesel with 134 HP (100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 2.1-liter diesel with 168 HP (125 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 1.6-liter petrol with outputs of 120 HP (90 kW) and 154 HP (115 kW)

  • A 2.0-liter petrol with 207 HP (155 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque

We can also expect a GLA 45 AMG with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 360 HP (265 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 2014

Mercedes Benz S63 AMG 2014 Car Wallpaper

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2014 S63 AMG, the most powerful high-performance saloon in the luxury segment. It will have an public debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The new S63 AMG more powerful, lightweight and efficient than its predecessor.

The styling of AMG comes from more aggressive bumpers, 19" alloy wheels which are larger, beefier side sills and a sports exhaust system.

The new S63 AMG is lighter in weight by 100 kgs (220 lbs) compared to the predecessor model thanks to the AMG forged light-alloy wheels, a lightweight lithium-ion battery and a lighter composite brake system. The entire outer skin of the S-Class, including the roof and the front end of the body, is made of aluminum.

The 2014 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG is powered by the updated Euro 6-compliant AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a torque of 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). The direct petrol injection engine has piezo injectors and an all-aluminum crankcase with four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment. It is built with air-to-water intercooler and has an ECO start/stop function.

The new S63 AMG will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in just 4.0 to 4.4 seconds, depending on model variant, and the top speed is electronically-limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

A combination of an efficient drive system and reduced weight results in an NEDC combined fuel consumption of 10.1 to 10.3 litres per 100 kilometres (237 to 242 g/km CO2).

The market launch will commences in September 2013 and prices for the S63 AMG (short wheelbase) will be 149,880.50 and S63 AMG 4MATIC (long wheelbase) will be 152,617.50.

On the interior the 500L has class-leading levels of safety equipment and enjoys a high level of standard specification. Enzo Ferrari Rally Drift Video

It's not every day you see one of the most valued exotic supercars being driven the way it was designed (or not designed) to be driven.
CarZi.com salutes the owner who provided this awesome video of his Enzo Ferrari being rallied through some muddy farm roads.

La Ferrari – Fastest Ferrari and it’s a hybrid

Ferrari unveiled it's fastest flagship car in Geneva - and it's a hybrid! The unexpectedly named Ferrari LaFerrari (previously known as the F70) was unveiled just yards away from its natural rival the McLaren P1 and the Lamborghini Veneno at the Geneva Motor Show this month and it's surprising in more ways than one. Ferrari chose the 2013 Geneva MotorShow event to unveil its fastest ever road car, displacing last year's Ferrari F12 Berlinetta from top of the pile and consigning it to second hand car sites like Car Sales now that there is a new boy in town - albeit limited to 499 happy customers. Even more ground-breaking is the fact that this is Ferrari's first ever hybrid. Photos and video below!

Although faster than the F12 Berlinetta, LaFerrari is probably a more natural successor to the famous Enzo anniversary model. The new supercar boasts a top speed of more than 217mph and can reach 60mph in less than three seconds. Pretty awesome, it has to be said.

Another interesting fact to note about the LaFerrari is that, as the company notes, it is "the first ever car with hybrid technology to come out of Maranello". The car features a 6262cc V12 engine that produces 800hp but also boasts an electric motor that chips in with a further 163hp for a total of more than 960hp. Impressively, this means that the car emits the same amount of CO2 as a Ferrari 458 Italia despite its far greater horsepower.

The electric system, HY-KERS, is even more advanced that the KERS system featured on Ferrari's Formula One cars. The system allows energy produced under breaking to be stored in a battery to aid acceleration later on. Thankfully the technology hasn't added any extra bulk to the car and the Italian maker says that the new system that it has been designed to allow it to be ported to future vehicles as well.

Ferrari was recently named the world's most powerful brand - well the LaFerrari is now its most powerful car and is only going to build on that success. Even if it is a hybrid, we want one now.

But even being touted as the world's most powerful brand, according to a survey conducted by British insurance company AXA Group, only 57% of Ferrari owners are actually enjoying their expensive sportscar experience behind the steering wheel.

Military-Inspired 2012 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition Unveiled

2012 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition

In the early stages of the Second World War, the vehicle we'd come to know as the Jeep Wrangler was born as a go-anywhere, general-purpose military scout vehicle. The Jeep became an iconic symbol of the U.S. military through World War II and into theaters including Korea and Vietnam.

Today, the Jeep is retired from military service, but there's no denying its born-from-conflict roots. In recognition of this, and to honor members of the U.S. military both past and present, Jeep is launching a special edition of the 2012 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited in tribute.

Dubbed the Wrangler Freedom Edition, the model comes in red, white or blue paint, and sports a military-themed star graphic on the hood and rear quarter panels. Gracing each front fender is a star-themed emblem with the slogan "Oscar Mike," military jargon for "on the move."

The Freedom Edition's 17-inch wheels, as well as its grille and bumper inserts, are finished in Mineral Gray. Inside, black cloth seats sport the same "Oscar Mike" logo as the front fenders, and silver accent stitching is used for the steering wheel, door panels seats and armrests.

Based on the Sport trim level, Freedom Edition models start at $28,165 for a two-door Wrangler, and begin at $30,670 for a four-door Wrangler Unlimited variant. For each Freedom Edition model sold, Chrysler will donate $250 to charities for military families, including the Fisher House Foundation and the I Support Foundation.

Active and retired military members may even qualify for a $500 cash allowance, which means you're getting an even better deal on an iconic SUV, and supporting charities that support our military at the same time. We'd call that a win for everyone.

2012 Toyota Camry Atara S Sedan

Toyota Camry Atara S Sedan

Toyota is one of the world’s most successful automotive brands, and in the States, the Camry mid-sizer is their best seller. In Australia, it’s easily the de facto choice in its class for rental and taxi companies, government fleets and private buyers. Join us as we take the Australian-spec Atara S for one of our weeklong road test and reviews.

The AU$33,490 RRP Atara S is the second cheapest model in the 2012 Camry range and the obvious choice for the vast majority of private buyers (the Altise, at AU$30,490 RRP, is the mainstay of fleet operators).

The 2012 Camry feels large for a mid-sizer with a length of 4,815 mm (190 in.) and a wheelbase of 2,775 mm (109 in.). It’s also 1,825 mm (72 in.) wide and 1,470 mm (58 in.) tall.

It’s fine-looking looking from most angles though the styling is best described as evolutionary rather than revolutionary - a Toyota hallmark. It’s a shame that from the side it looks more like a minor facelift than an all-new model; the angular window-line seemingly unchanged from the previous generation.

Still, in Atara S guise the Camry comes with front fog lights and five spoke alloy wheels which help to alleviate many of the deign shortcomings. There’s also the expected assortment of three letter acronym safety equipment (ABS, EBD, traction / stability control etc.) resulting in a 5 star ANCAP rating. This alone should be a big incentive for many private buyer.

Unlike the majority of Atara S’s currently in Aussie showrooms, our press fleet vehicle came with a full leather interior and a power tilt/slide sunroof. Everything else - from the climate control air conditioning, electrically adjustable driver’s seat and touch-screen audio - is standard.

All the controls are clearly labelled and easy to use; a definite plus. One thing I didn’t like was the fact that the audio and climate controls are backlit in green; with the white instruments and blue touch-screen it seemed out-of-place and dated. The foot-operated handbrake is also an unusual touch in a car such as this. The air conditioning is fantastic and the front seats extremely comfortable.

The lack of automatic adjustment for the front passenger seat is disappointing though not unexpected. The steering wheel is nice and chunky and the interior material choices are - as to be expected from Toyota - of a very high standard. This is a no-fuss cabin that’s well designed and well-appointed for a car at this price range. The boot - which contains a full-sized spare - is easy to access and large enough to accommodate almost anything.

The Camry’s 133 kW (178 hp), 2.5-liter inline four delivers 231 Nm (170 lb. ft.) of torque through a 6-spd automatic gearbox. It’s an eager if somewhat pedestrian sounding unit that benefits greatly from an above average transmission. Smooth power delivery makes the Atara S a competent highway cruiser. Fuel economy seems to be about 10 L / 100 km around town and 7.5 L / 100 km on the open road.

The steering is a bit lifeless but otherwise I have few complaints about the Camry’s driving experience. It handles well, rides comfortably and is effortless to drive. The suspension setup is well adapted to Australian road conditions and the brakes work flawlessly. "Boringly competent" best describes the 2012 Camry’s on-road performance.

1956 Chrysler Diablo Concept Auctions for $1.3 Million at Barrett-Jackson

1956 Chrysler Diablo Concept

A 1956 Chrysler Diablo Concept was auctioned at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction for $1,375,000, the auction has seen some one-off projects auction at very high prices such as the Original 1966 Batmobile that auctioned for $4.62 million.

This Diablo was a product of the director of automotive design for Chrysler in 1953, Virgil Exner Sr., who was given the responsibility to design all of Chrysler’s concept cars starting in 1954. Exner would then collaborate with Ghia, one of the best body builders in Italy to come up with the Diablo Concept. Designed in a wind tunnel, the Diablo is one of the largest custom bodied convertibles ever built by the Ghia body builder and in its second phase it retained a full convertible top.

They used a 1956 Chrysler 300 with a 392 cubic inch V8 engine featuring two four barrel carburetors, automatic push-button transmission and a ton of chrome in the engine compartment. Every detail on this car was fastidiously gone over by Virgil Exner including the pitchfork emblems, emblem on the gas filler lid which is in the trunk area and the sculpting on the exhaust tips, which reportedly took Virgil several days on the drawing board to get the design just perfect.

The Diablo is also fitted with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power top, power antenna and air conditioning. The size of this car is of 21′ long and very wide. This car has been in the same important collection for approximately 25 years.
