Preparing for its Frankfurt debut
Development work continues on the Mercedes GLA as our spies have caught the model undergoing testing ahead of its Frankfurt debut.
Previewed by the GLA concept, the production model appears to eschew the aggressive styling and adopt a familiar design which closely echoes the A-Class. As a result, the crossover resembles a high-riding hatchback with a two-bar grille, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and bulging rear fenders.
Engine options, likely virtually everything else, will be shared with the A-, B- and CLA-Class. This means choices should include:
- A 1.8-liter diesel with 134 HP (100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque
- A 2.1-liter diesel with 168 HP (125 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque
- A 1.6-liter petrol with outputs of 120 HP (90 kW) and 154 HP (115 kW)
- A 2.0-liter petrol with 207 HP (155 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque
We can also expect a GLA 45 AMG with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 360 HP (265 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.
