Envisioned by BMW Group Design
BMW has virtually unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo created exclusively for the Play Station 3-only Gran Turismo 6 video game.
It was developed by the BMW Group Design team who obviously got its inspiration from the real track-only M235i Racing but with a few modifications such as the front and rear spoilers reshaped to provide an optimal level of downforce. The virtual racer also boasts carbon fiber air conduction elements which not only reduce drag but also help lower the car's weight to only 1,180 kg (2,601 lbs) distributed in an even 50:50 front/rear ratio.
Its beating heart is an inline-six 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo engine outputting 549 PS (404 kW) between 6,200 rpm and 7,300 rpm and a peak torque of 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) achieved at just 1,900 rpm. Output is transferred to the rear axle through a six-speed sequential gearbox featuring steering wheel-mounted paddles.
Some elements of the bodywork could find their way in the BMW M2 rumored to come out late next year.
