Gumpert Apollo S duo arrives in Geneva

Gumpert Apollo S duo arrives in Geneva

Gumpert Apollo S live in Geneva 2013

With 750 HP and 900 Nm

Gumpert is back in business and they've brought an Apollo S to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

Troubled German specialty marque has risen from its ashes now that it has a new unknown investor. A lineup expansion is in the works and later this year "at a major trade fair" they will launch an all-new model.

For the Swiss show they brought an Apollo S black and red duo packing a V8 4163cc engine with 750 HP (551.6 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 900 Nm (663.7 lb-ft) at 4,000 rpm. It will do 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 8.8 seconds.

There are three gearbox choices: a 6-speed fully-synchronized, a sequential with manual gear shift lever and an automatic electronic gear system with paddle shift. It boasts a chromium-molybdenum steel tube frame and a carbon/Kevlar monocoque with a carbon body shell and carbon/aluminum underbody. It stops efficiently thanks to its 378mm ventilated disc brakes with six-piston calipers on all four corners and rides on 19- or 20-inch alloys with central locking.

Other highlights include a removable steering wheel, LED daytime running lights, carbon fiber rear wing, double wishbone suspension for both axles, front anti roll bar, adjustable ground clearance and a high-performance ABS system.

Honda Civic Tourer concept introduced in Geneva [video]

Previews the 2014 production model

Honda has introduced the Civic Tourer concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Designed to preview a production model that will go on sale early next year, the concept has a low and wide stance which gives it a "dynamic and elegant look." We can also see LED-infused headlights, a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Interior pictures were not released, but the cabin will likely be heavily influenced by the Euro-spec Civic. Honda also says we can expect class-leading cargo space.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model, so choices could include:

  • A 1.4-liter i-VTEC with 100 HP (73 kW) and 127 Nm (94 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 1.8-liter i-VTEC with 142 HP (104 kW) and 174 Nm (128 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel with 150 HP (110 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque

BMW M6 Mirr6r by Hamann

Posted on 03.5.2013 13:00 by
Kirby Garlitos

Swiss tuner, Mansory, may be the king of the over-the-top aftermarket programs, but Hamann’s new "Mirr6r"program for the BMW M6 may just give Mansory a run for its money.

To say that the Mirr6r program is shiny can be a little bit of understatement. The chrome finish on the body is definitely eye catching, if not glaring when parked under the sun. But that’s not the only thing special about the Mirr6r program because Hamann went to great lengths to ratchet up the aggressive look of the luxury sports car. Notice the new bonnet on the M6 that was installed by Hamann. That one, like the rest of the new components the German tuner added to the M6, is made of carbon fiber.

The program also gives the M6 a wider look, extending the width of the car by 40 mm (1.57 inches) to go with a more pronounced stance. Hamann also did a great job in re-sculpting the M6 in such a way that its lines flow across the side skirts with its air intakes all the way to the rear spoiler, including the integrated carbon Venturi diffuser. And for added downforce, a new carbon rear spoiler was introduced. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a new set of 21-inch ultra-light forged wheels with a choice of either "Edition Race" or "Unique Forged Formula" and wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R tires to ensure top-caliber grip, steering precision and cornering ability.

Inside, Hamann used numerous leather Alcantara applications to refine the cabin space of the M6 while also adding aluminum pedals and foot rests. As an added option, the German tuner can also install a host of optional accessories, including illuminated trims in chrome.

No engine upgrades have been announced yet but Hamann said that it’s still tweaking the engine’s performance. So stay tuned for that one.

Abarth 695 Maserati Edition Price And Specs

Abarth 695 Maserati Edition

Remember the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, the hyper-expensive hot hatch fettled with some help from Maranello? Well now Fiat has tuned up its baby 500C convertible pocket rocket with assistance from Maserati.

The new limited-edition Abarth 695 Maserati Edition will carry a similarly eye-watering price tag – just 499 of the convertible hot hatch will be built and it tops a heady 32,000.

Like the Ferrari version launched three years ago, the Maser 500 uses a 180bhp 1.4 engine breathed upon by a Garrett turbocharger to liberate 184lb ft at 3000rpm when Sport mode is selected.

Abarth’s Competizione transmission is standard, its five speeds slotting up and down via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts. A sports exhaust is claimed to improve the acoustics above 3000rpm.

Brembo monobloc brake callipers are fitted to stop this minuscule missile effectively, while Koni shock absorbers give a sportier, lower ride. Not too sporty, we hope; the Tributo Ferrari was a pogoing mess on British country roads.

Fiat swears its sporting brand has had input – and if you look hard enough, you can spot the influences. The 17in alloys have a Maserati-inspired Neptune design, apparently, and the paint is straight from the Maser colour charts – Pontevecchio Bordeaux. The foldback canvas roof is contrasting grey.

It all starts to get a bit more confusing inside, where Jaeger helped design the instrument pack, but there’s the usual smattering of carbonfibre (kickplates), leather (wheel and seats) and a rather more surprising UV treatment on the door panels whose surface is described as ‘flocking’.

UK sales of the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition start in late 2012. And if you’re fretting over that sky-high price for a tarted-up Fiat 500, remember some of the extras thrown in ‘for free’. There’s a set of Tramontano leather luggage, xenon headlamps, climate control, sat-nav, a JBL hi-fi and limited-edition plaque numbering each edition from 1 to 499.

It’s easy to scoff at absurdities such as the Maser 500, but dealers report that these cars do sell – sometimes to customers coming out of supercars or Merc SLs, who want something smaller and more discrete but without losing the exclusivity they crave.

The 695 Maserati Edition certainly has lower running costs than most supercars, with its 151g/km CO2 rating and 46.3mpg average economy figure. Yet Abarth claims a top speed in excess of 140mph and a 0-62mph time nudging just the right side of seven seconds.

2013 BMW 7-series facelift prototype

2013 BMW 7-series

BMW is giving its flagship sedan, the 2013 7 Series a facelift. The updates to the 2013 7 Series include powertrain upgrades for the 740i/Li and 750i/Li models, in addition to a new powertrain for the ActiveHybrid 7. The exterior also gets a few tweaks and the interior gets a redesigned iDrive system.

The top 7 Series is still the 760Li with its Twin Turbo V12, which does not get any engine updates for the new model year. Both the six-cylinder 740i/Li and the V8-powered 750i/Li models get upgrades that give both models better performance and greater efficiency. The six-cylinder engine in the 740i/Li has been upgraded to the latest 3.0L TwinPower Turbo (N55) engine. It packs 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission and buyers can choose the optional xDrive all-wheel-drive system. According to BMW, the 2013 740i/Li is 20 percent more efficient on the EU test cycle.

The 4.4L V8 in the 750i/Li models has been updated with Valvetronic, BMW’s throttle-less intake system. The updated engine now packs 445 horsepower, a 45 hp increase over its predecessor, and 480 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 30 lb-ft. The V8 is mated to BMW’s 8-speed automatic transmission. The V8 is more fuel efficient than the outgoing engine, but accelerates the 750i/Li from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

Both 740i/Li and 750i/Li models benefit from BMW’s Auto Start/Stop System which shuts off the engine when stopped at traffic lights or in stop-and-go traffic to further maximize fuel savings.

2013 also brings the second generation of the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. The new ActiveHybrid 7 is now powered by the a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine, instead of the V8 in the last model. The six-cylinder engine has the same 315 horsepower as the 740i and is mated to a 55 horsepower electric motor, a hybrid-spec 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and a lithium ion high-performance battery. The 2013 ActiveHybrid 7 has a combined output of 349 horsepower and 367 lb-ft. of torque. It reaches 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds. In the EU test cycle, the ActiveHybrid 7 was 14 percent more fuel efficient than the new 740Li.

On the outside the 2013 7 Series gets a new larger BMW kidney grille that includes nine slats in place of the previous 12. The lower section of the front fascia is now dominated by a large air intake that has been split into three sections. Included is BMW’s innovative “air curtain” technology, which lowers fuel consumption at higher speeds by forcing the air to flow more aerodynamically around the front wheels. The new BMW 740i/Li and 750i/Li are equipped with standard Adaptive Xenon headlights. Adaptive LED Headlights are optional on those models and standard on the 760Li.

The 7 Series interior gets updates that include redesigned, more slender front seats and the optional Rear Seat Entertainment Package now includes an iDrive controller and two 9.2-inch screens which, instead of being integrated into the front seats, appear to be “floating” on them.

Mitsubishi GR-HEV concept

A next-gen EV and a diesel-hybrid sport utility truck

These are the first official photos with Mitsubishi's CA-MiEV and GR-HEV concepts bound for Geneva debut this week.

Let's begin with the more attractive of the two, the CA-MiEV concept. Mitsubishi sees this car as a preview for a next generation electric vehicle packing high-energy density batteries and a high-efficiency system. Some of its highlights include an entirely new electric motor, inverter, as well as wireless charging system and support for regenerative braking. With the batteries completely charged, the CA-MiEV concept can provide a range of 186 miles (300 km) thanks to a lightweight and aerodynamic body.

The GR-HEV is envisioned as a sport utility truck powered by a diesel-hybrid setup. The conventional engine sits at the front and sends the horsepower to a new type of four-wheel drive system with Super Select 4WD (available in the Pajero) and Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) aimed at providing superior traction regardless of the road conditions. The Japanese firm mentions the GR-HEV has CO2 emissions of under 149 g/km.

We will have more details about both of them tomorrow when they arrive at the Swiss auto show.

[REAR VIEW PHOTOS ADDED] 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible spotted

[REAR VIEW PHOTOS ADDED] 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible spotted

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible

Debuts in Geneva next week

[UPDATE] Chevrolet has released the first two official images with the car.

[UPDATE 2] More official photos added, showing the rear view.

This is the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible as posted on Carfanatic's Instagram account.

At the beginning of last month Chevrolet teased the convertible version of the Stingray, ahead of an official unveiling programmed for March 5 in Geneva. Now, we take a look at the open top Corvette while it's being rolled down a ramp.

Too bad for the car cover as we don't get to see the car's details, but so far it looks good. We'll just have to wait a couple of days until it will be revealed. The first car will be auctioned in April at Barrett-Jackson, with the money going to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Power is likely to come from the same 6.2-liter V8 engine with about 450 hp (336 kW) and 609 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque. It should be slightly slower than the coupe which can do 0-62 mph in less than four seconds.

This could be the Citroen DS3 WTCC [video]

Possible 2014 entry

The car in this video could very well be the WTCC version of the Citroën DS3.

It seems Citroën is not pulling the plug on its WTCC project, despite posting a huge five billion euro loss last year. What we have here in the clip is possibly the Citroën DS3 WTCC which could join the competition next year.

Last month reports emerged about Sebastien Loeb testing a modified DS3 in Valencia, Spain. Citroën Racing is still waiting for an approval from Citroën's bosses but development of the DS3 WTCC seems to be underway.

Hopefully, Citroën will make an official announcement about its plans for next year's World Touring Car Championship.

Bentley Continental Sanguis by Mansory

Posted on 03.4.2013 14:00 by
Kirby Garlitos

When it comes to delivering enough carbon fiber to serve a lifetime, nobody does it more than Mansory.

If expressive programs are the name, Mansory is the game. At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the tuner is bringing a lineup of new programs, including one for the Bentley Continental, called the Sanguis.

In true Mansory fashion, the Sanguis program includes a newly designed front apron, a light carbon-fiber bonnet, carbon-fiber front wings, newly designed side sills and rear widening components that considerably reinforce the wide-body look of the Continental. Additionally, the new rear apron delivers additional downthrust and creates enough space for Mansory to install its new exhaust system. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a new set of 22-inch ultra-light forged wheels with 10 double spokes wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tires.

Inside, the modifications include plenty of sport functionality and luxurious ambience with leather by master craftsmen predominantly used. A newly designed sport steering wheel was also added while the aluminum pedals, the door entry sills and the Makassar ebony wood elements round out what can only be described as an opulent reminder of what Mansory is capable of.

Speaking of what it’s capable of, no Mansory product comes without any power enhancements, which is why the Sanguis program also carries its own performance upgrade. Thanks to a new sports exhaust system, a new air filter and an optimized engine performance graph, Mansory was able to drive up the output of the Continental to 672 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 575 pound-feet of torque at 1,700 rpm. All told, the Continental can now hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph.

Rolls Royce Wraith

After debuting the Series II for both the Phantom and Phantom Coupe models, Rolls Royce engineers are now busy testing their latest creation: the 2014 Rolls Royce Corniche Coupe.

Our spy photographers managed to catch the first prototypes as they were taken out for some testing, and even though Rolls Royce engineers tried to camouflage the true shape of this Corniche prototype, it’s not very hard to see that the roof-line slopes much more at the rear than the Rolls Royce Ghost sedan. These prototypes were also sporting fake door handles, in order to pretend that the Coupe will get conventional doors, but don’t be fooled, the Corniche will get the same type of suicide doors as the bigger Phantom Coupe and it won’t be offered with four doors.

The future Corniche Coupe will be built on the same platform as the Ghost sedan and will most likely feature the same 6.6 liter twin-turbo V12 pumping out 563 HP.

Expect to see the new Rolls Royce Corniche Coupe debut sometime in 2013, more than likely at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

UPDATE 03/04/2013: rolls Royce Wraith will make its world debut tomorrow at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, but the first official images have already surfaced on the internet. (Carscoops)

2013 Volkswagen Golf Variant first official photos available

2013 Volkswagen Golf Variant first official photos available

2013 Volkswagen Golf Variant TSI BlueMotion

No surprises

These are the first official photos with the Variant version of the seventh-gen Golf.

Several days ago we saw the Golf VII Variant in very revealing spy photos but with masked taillights taken from the previous generation. Now we get to see the taillight design which closely resembles current Volkswagen models without any real surprises. The car seen here is the more frugal BlueMotion variant with a TSI engine sporting silver roof rails and five double-spoke alloys.

We don't expect any major changes under the bonnet where it will likely borrow the engines from the hatchback, including (but not limited to) a 1.2-liter TSI with 85 HP (63 kW) or 105 HP (77 kW), a 1.4-liter TSI with 122 HP (90 kW) or 140 HP (103 kW), while diesel choices should include a 1.6-liter TDI with 105 HP (77 kW) and a 2.0-liter TDI with 150 HP.

Full details will be available next week when the car will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show, along with the Golf GTI, GTD, e-Golf and the plug-in hybrid variant.

Kia Provo concept breaks cover

 Kia Provo concept breaks cover

2013 Kia Provo concept

Kia Juke ?

This is Kia's brand new concept set for a public unveiling in a couple of days at 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

At the beginning of the year Kia promised us a "racy new urban concept" featuring a "mischievous yet friendly grille and headlight arrangement." The car is known as the Provo and will be shown next week in Geneva.

Looking very fresh, the two-door Kia Provo coupe has a light grey metallic paint with an orange roof and chromed massive alloy wheels. Several orange accents can be found on the front spoiler, brake calipers and wheel center cap. At the back we see a dual exhaust arrangement, diffuser and an interesting taillight configuration. We also notice the muscular wheel arches, slender mirrors and drilled brake discs.

The interior cabin looks like a modern interpretation of a retro car, with a minimum amount of buttons and leather seats with a honeycomb pattern. All dials are digital while the flat-bottomed steering wheel is wrapped around in Alcantara.

We assume this concept serves as a preview for a future Nissan Juke rival coming soon.

Pagani Huayra receives 1200W Sonus Faber audio system

Pagani Huayra receives 1200W Sonus Faber audio system

Pagani Huayra with Sonus Faber audio system

Arriving in Geneva

Pagani and Sonus Faber have officially confirmed a new premium sound system for the Huayra which will be showcased next week in Geneva.

Following a couple of rather inconclusive teasers, now we know for sure the Huayra will get a 1200-watt Sonus Faber sound system. Weight was the top priority when designing the system which is why they developed carbon cones with a lightweight construction. It also uses neodymium magnets and is three times more powerful than Huayra's standard audio system.

A Digital Sound Processor is in charge of providing a crystal clear audio experience and can be customized according to the owner's tastes. Some of the technology is carried over from Sonus Faber's premium audio systems, including Aida, a vibration-free CNC with an avional/gunmetal structure, while the geometry was calculated precisely to damp the two material's natural resonances for providing a clear sound experience. In addition, the diaphragms of the speakers are manufactured from a bespoke lightweight carbon fiber.

Smart ForTwo BoConcept revealed

 Smart ForTwo BoConcept revealed

2013 Smart ForTwo BoConcept

Co-developed with BoDesign

Smart and BoDesign have joined forces to create the ForTwo BoConcept planned for a public reveal in Geneva next week.

One can never have too many special editions of the ForTwo is probably the motto at Smart's headquarters. The latest project is the result of a collaboration with Danish interior design company BoDesign. It's based on the cabriolet version and wears a matte white paint, while the top and door mirrors have a matte oriental brown metallic look, just like the Brabus Monoblock VII alloy wheels.

The interior cabin has been revised with the goal to create a mobile living space. Tobacco brown leather covers the steering wheel, seats and door trim panels, while the backrests and doors adopt a grey finish. The seats and steering wheel feature light lemon stitching, with several other yellow accents on the mirrors and wheels.

Nissan GT-R Nismo

Posted on 02.28.2013 20:00 by
Simona

A few days ago, Nissan confirmed that its in-house performance division, Nismo, is preparing for big updates for the future. One of the biggest surprises offered by the performance division will be a Nismo version of the current Nissan GT-R.

The future Nismo version will be based on the 2014 GT-R and will add a series of updates that will transform the GT-R into a real track machine, while keeping it perfectly suitable for the road. No other details have been provided, but it's pretty easy to imagine what the future GT-R Nismo will bring on the market.

On the exterior, Nismo will work on improving the car’s aerodynamics, so you should expect lower front and rear bumpers, wider wings and sill side skirts, plus a huge wing at the rear. On the interior, the Nismo GT-R will get special suede-trimmed Nismo sports seats with red stitching, plus a redesigned steering wheel, pedals, gauges and gear knob.

Under the hood, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine will be tricked to deliver at least 20 horsepower over the standard 545 horsepower.

The new Nissan GT-R Nismo will hit dealerships in a year’s time. We'll update you when new information surfaces.

KTM 125 SX

Posted on 02.28.2013 21:44 by Sulthoni

The 2013 KTM 125 SX is built on a modern frame which is made of lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes. This construction gives it an ideal mix of longitudinal and torsional stiffness.

The frame's center piece is a 1-cylinder 2-stroke engine, water-cooled, with reed intake and exhaust control. Te engine is paired with a six speed transmission and has a displacement of 24.8 cm . It's also worthy of being mentioned that for 2013, the engine braces to the cylinder head have been optimized, along with their attachment to the frame.

Another significant upgrade made for 2013 is the new, more refined WP monoshock and the KTM linkage system. Thanks to the new modifications, the monoshock offers improved damping, more traction and even higher reserves against bottoming out. Like usual, rebound and compression damping (high and low speed) can be adapted individually to the track and rider.

Pagani confirms using two sets of tires on Top Gear

Pagani confirms using two sets of tires on Top Gear

Pagani Zonda R race slicks - note tread depth wear indicator holes

Pirelli P Zero Corsa and Trofeo

Pagani has provided additional explanations about the tire controversy during Top Gear Power Lap competition.

When asked by Jalopnik why the Huayra had no "P-Zero Corsa" branding on the tires as well as a different pattern, Pagani replied they used two types of tires for the Top Gear test track footage: the regular Corsas and the Zonda R-derived Trofeo tires.

The reason why Pagani said they only used Corsa tires in the press release was because they wanted "to push them on the media." Pagani added all Pirelli tires used for the Huayra are derived from the ones mounted on the Zonda R. Since those modified Trofeo tires are legal, Pagani did not cheat during the Top Gear test but they should have been clearer right from the beginning.

Although those custom Trofeo tires are street legal, Pagani says these shouldn't be used in heavy rain. Based on the record-breaking lap, we assume they used modified Trofeos for the Power Lap, while for anything else Corsas were mounted.

2013 SRT Viper now available with Track Pack

2013 SRT Viper now available with Track Pack

2013 SRT Viper with Track Pack, 600, 27.02.2013

62 pounds lighter

SRT has announced the optional Track Pack is now available for the 2013 Viper and Viper GTS.

When SRT introduced the new Viper last year they said a Track Pack will be optionally available. Now, the additional equipment is available for the regular Viper and the more expensive GTS version.

To increase downforce and provide better cooling, the package includes uprated brake cooling ductwork, while the Brembo braking kit features all-new brake rotors which are 8 lbs (3.6 kg) less heavy. This means the Viper fitted with the Track Pack has lost 32 lbs (14.5 kg) compared to the stock model.

The list of weight-saving measures doesn't end there as thanks to the new wheels and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, the Viper/Viper GTS Track Pack version weighs 62 lbs (28.1 kg) less overall. There's also a four-mode traction / stability control system part of the kit.

SRT has not released photos or details about pricing yet.

Mercedes-Benz to offer illuminated emblem star [video]

German bling

Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH will offer an illuminated central grille star for many of its above compact models.

Boasting an optical fiber with LED technology, the white star emblem is lighted only when the car is stationary. The "Illuminated Star" shines when the car is unlocked or the engine is stopped. It also lights up when the door or trunk is opened. Once the door/trunk is closed, the star will go off in 15 seconds.

Already on sale for the M- and GL-Class models, the luminous star will also be optionally available starting next month for the C-, CLS- E-Class models. It won't be available for the cars fitted with Distronic or Distronic Plus. Another requirement is to have the star in the radiator grille. This optional feature costs 300 EUR.

Toyota i-Road Concept

Kirby Garlitos

Toyota’s participation at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show involves the debut of two new concepts, one of which, the GT 86 Open Top Concept, is understandably getting all the attention.

But don’t sleep on the other concept because chances are, at least in the future, you might find more of these bad boys out on the road.

It’s called the i-Road Concept, Toyota’s zero-emission concept study of a future city car. Not a whole lot of details were divulged, but the automaker did say that the concept will be come with a 1+1 tandem-seating layout.

It’s a compact, fun, and emission-free personal mobility concept that doesn’t look all that impressive - it reminds us of a fly, unfortunately, but it does come with future tech that will probably be of good use as the world shifts toward a more eco-friendly approach to living.

In any case, we’ll have more info surrounding the i-Road concept when it makes its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

The Geneva Motor Show is considered one of the biggest auto shows in the calendar year. So, if you’re an Austrian automaker looking to follow up and introduce the next generation model of your track sports car, you’d pick Geneva as the ideal venue to debut your new vehicle, right?

That appears to be the thinking KTM has after word has come out that they’re planning to preview the next-generation X-Bow in Geneva. This shouldn’t really come as a surprise to a lot of people, especially when you consider that it’s about time a successor to the X-Bow arrived.

Plus, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding this said successor, which, by the way, is penciled in as the X-Bow GT. So with the biggest auto show on the horizon, the time seems appropriate for the folks over at KTM to finally put all the whispers at ease and bring the X-Bow GT to the forefront.

We know we’re not the only ones waiting for this debut.

Find out more about the KTM X-Bow GT after the jump

3.

With Nissan officially announcing its intention to drop out of the DeltaWing program, we started to worry about its long-distance racing future.

Fret not, as the company has announced its intention to return to 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014. According to Nissan President and Chief Executive Officer, Carlos Ghosn, the company is preparing an "innovative project that promises to continue the pioneering spirit of last year’s award-winning Nissan DeltaWing experimental entry." Nissan will return as the "Garage 56" entry for innovative concepts.

First details revealed on this experimental project show that it will offer an "innovative new powertrain technology." Data delivered by this experimental project will be provided to the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) who will then decide if this "breakthrough technology" can be used in the "endurance racing in the future."

Ghosn also revealed that the technology used in this experimental project can be used in both road car and race cars in the upcoming future.

Just a few days ago, the first spy shots of a facelift version for the BMW 5-Series Touring were revealed and now the 5-Series Sedan is taking its turn testing its capabilities.

The sedan version of the 5-Series is camouflaged in the same areas that the Touring model was, confirming that these are the exact locations of the biggest changes. It looks like the front bumper will get most of the updates, with new air-intakes, a new design for the headlights, and a the grille that will sit slightly more upright. It is also believed that the headlamps will feature a new arrangement, just like in the 3-Series, and will go all the way to the grille. The rear lights will also get new graphics and the exterior mirrors will be a bit sportier.

As for the engine updates, the only thing we know is that the 535i version will drop the current N55 engine in favor of a new inline turbo six-cylinder.

Expect to see the facelift BMW 5-Series launched sometime soon, so stay tuned!

ABT Audi RS5-R unleashed

 ABT Audi RS5-R unleashed

2013 ABT Audi RS5-R

Heading to Geneva

ABT Sportsline has developed an upgrade kit for the Audi RS5 which will be presented next week in Geneva.

Power comes from the same normally-aspirated V8 4.2-liter engine but instead of 450 HP (331 kW) it now delivers 470 HP (345 kW) thanks to the new exhaust system featuring lateral dual pipes. The standard RS5 needs 4.6 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h), while ABT's version will do it 0.3 seconds quicker.

Sitting on 20-inch alloy wheels, this custom Audi RS5 has a new front apron, front splitter, side skirts and rear wing – all of which are manufactured from carbon fiber. The same material was used for the diffuser and hood.

The interior cabin is decorated in black and red Alcantara with carbon fiber door panels, racing stripes on the bucket seats, along with a stainless steel roll cage and four-point seat belts.

Limited to 99 units

Spania GTA has released a second teaser photo and preliminary info for the 2013 GTA Spano.

Following last week's teaser, Spanish automaker Spania GTA has released another photo with the GTA Spano which looks virtually identical to its predecessor. More importantly, they are also providing some details about the supercar.

Limited to 99 units, the updated Spano's engine will produce 900 hp (671 kW) and an electronically-limited 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to this setup, the GTA Spano will run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of more than 217 mph (350 km/h).

Spania GTA says the car was built by using a combination of carbon fiber, titanium and Kevlar. It will be showcased in Geneva next week together with a new jewelry line made by José Marín. These collections are called Spanosence and Headlight, with both of them being based on the supercar.

Hakan Saracoglu appointed the company's design director

Chery International isn't known for being a design powerhouse, but the company has managed to sway former Porsche designer Hakan Saracoglu into their camp.

Saracoglu isn't exactly a household name, but the 47-year-old has previously worked at Ford of Europe where he helped to design the Focus and Mondeo. He eventually moved to Porsche where he worked on models such as the Boxster, Cayman and 918 Spyder.

In his new position as Chery's design director he will oversee the styling direction of a variety of new models from the company's design center in Shanghai. Speaking to Automotive News, Saracoglu said "The company is redefining itself. Chery is standing for value, for design and gaining customer confidence. That's where we want to go."

Saracoglu is just the latest in an increasing number of designers who have taken jobs in China as salaries there are reportedly as much as three times higher than they are in Europe or the United States. When asked how much he was making, Saracoglu declined to answer but hinted "Let's say I'm not unhappy."

Audi RS5-R by ABT Sportsline

The RS version of the new Audi A5 is one car that definitely needs no upgrades, but German tuner, ABT Sportsline, chose to do it anyways. The tuner will unveil its RS5-R tuning kit, which will upgrade both the look and the engine output of the RS5, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

For the exterior, ABT prepared an aerodynamic kit that includes a new front apron, front splitter, side skirts and rear wing - all made in carbon fiber. The car sits on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels combined with high-performance tires. For the interior, ABT combined the highest quality black and red Alcantara with carbon-fiber insertions on the door panels. The bucket seats received racing stripes and for increased safety a stainless-steel roll cage and four-point seat belts.

The best upgrades were made under the hood where the tuner combined the V-8 engine with a new exhaust system with lateral dual pipes. As a result, the standard 450 horsepower output has been increased by 20 horsepower and the 0-to-60 mph sprint is now made in 4.6 seconds - 0.3 seconds quicker than standard version.

AUDI R8 (2008)

AUDI R8
The Audi R8 is a mid-engined sports car introduced by the German automaker Audi in 2006, appearing at auto shows and events all over the world. The R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, which contributes to the car's relatively light weight. It is built by Audi AG's wholly owned private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH.

Audi announced in 2005 that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, appearing at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show and 2003 International Motor Show. The R8 was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There is some confusion with the name, which the car shares with the Le Mans winning R8 LMP and also the 1989 Mk2 Rover 200, codenamed R8.

2008 AUDI R8 V12 TDI Concept
AUDI R8 V12 TDI Concept

Does the world need the Audi R8 V12 TDI, a supercar powered by diesel? We love the regular Audi R8. It's our 2007 performance car of the year, with sublime steering that belies its Ingolstadt roots, and one of the best gearboxes around. That high-revving 4.2-litre V8 sounds wonderful and the quattro system juggles all-weather security with rear bias for tail-out action. How could you want any more? Well, there is a V10 version coming in 2009...

But over the past few years Audi has sought to fill every conceivable niche. Welcome then, to the Audi R8 V12 TDI, the world's first diesel production supercar. Yes, it's a concept car for now, but Audi is seriously debating the future of this car.

Hold on, did you say Audi R8 V12 TDI?
We did indeed. Underneath that stunning bodywork sits an oil-burning engine. The car was first unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of 2008 in a shade of silver. Since then it's been repainted red and now CAR Online has been to Miami for a drive of this rather special concept car.

The job of the R8 V12 TDI is two-fold. For one, it is designed to showcase the Hungarian-built V12 TDI engine. At six litres it easily surpasses the 5.0-litre V10 that sits in the nose of Volkswagen's Phaeton and Touareg. The new V12 will be available in the Q7 from later in 2008, will probably be in the next A8, and maybe, just maybe in the R8...

That's right, the second reason for the R8 diesel concept is to preview a production car that is currently 50:50. But that's without taking into account the influence of a certain Dr Ferdinand Piech, the man who insisted that the impossible be made reality with the Bugatti Veyron.

NOBLE

NOBLE M12 GTO 3R (2003)

NOBLE M12 GTO 3R (2003)
In 2000, the Noble M12 GTO threatened to turn the established supercar market on its head. With its mix of scorching performance, race-bred dynamics and immaculate build quality, the Noble could be bought for a fraction of the cost of most of its rivals, but gave away nothing to them on the road and track. The press raved about it and demand rapidly grew as buyers saw this British-designed car as a credible alternative to cars costing more than twice the price.

The original Noble M12 GTO was fitted with a 2.5-litre V6 engine using twin turbochargers and produced 310bhp (314PS) - enough for it to accelerate from 0-60mph (0-97kph) in 3.9 seconds and 100mph (160kph) in 9.4 seconds (figures from Autocar magazine). As if this wasn't fast enough, at the start of 2003, Noble upped power further by replacing the 2.5-litre unit with a 3.0-litre V6 engine, again with twin turbochargers, but this time producing 352bhp (357PS).

There are currently two models in the range: the M12 GTO-3 and the M12 GTO-3R. Both cars use the same engines and underpinnings, but there are significant differences in styling, refinement and transmissions. The M12 GTO-3 is the entry model in the range, with a list price of 47,950. As with the GTO-3R, it has a GRP composite body over a spaceframe chassis offering impressive levels of structural and torsional rigidity. Inside, the cabin is spacious enough to accommodate people over six-foot tall and has excellent ergonomics, adjustable seats and steering column, a fully trimmed safety roll cage and Alcantara trim as standard.

At a list price of 49,950 the M12 GTO-3R is visually identifiable from the GTO-3 by its faired-in twin bi-xenon headlights and Noble-designed ten-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the 3R has extra noise insulation and full leather trim as standard. But what really sets the 3R apart from the 3, is its all-new Getrag-Ford six-speed gearbox and Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing differential, enhancing its appeal as both a relaxed, high-speed GT and an accomplished track day weapon.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The 2968cc, twin-turbocharged V6 used in both Noble models is transversely mounted in front of the rear axle, directly behind the cabin. It features four valves per cylinder and double overhead cams to each bank of cylinders. The all-alloy engine is heavily modified from standard, with many bespoke components fitted during build. It produces 352bhp (357PS) at 6200rpm, and is redlined at 7200rpm.

On the road, 350lb ft (475Nm) of torque produced between 3500 and 5000rpm makes the car immensely flexible and easy to drive. Even at 3000rpm, the engine is producing 80 per cent of its available torque. There's also very little lag from the twin Garret T25, water-cooled turbochargers, meaning a particularly linear response throughout the rev-range. The turbochargers run a maximum 0.7 bar of boost and are equipped with an air to air intercooler, centrally mounted at the rear of the car.

A completely new design of exhaust for the 3.0-litre engine gives you the choice of enjoying the sporty engine note under hard acceleration, or savouring the V6's inherent refinement at cruising speeds.

The all-new Getrag-Ford six-speed manual gearbox, standard on GTO-3R models, has closer intermediate ratios than the GTO-3's five-speed gearbox, but has an even more relaxed top gear than before, running 26.5mph per 1000rpm. This means that at 70mph the engine is turning over at a mere 2650rpm.

Also standard with the GTO-3R's six-speed gearbox is a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing differential. This unique, patented unit shares the basic characteristics of a conventional limited slip differential, which prevents loss of drive when one wheel starts to slip. However, the ATB differential has the advantage of gears, rather than plates, which can wear or break, and therefore servicing is reduced and reliability improved. The ATB also eliminates much of the understeer that is inherent in conventional LSDs, by transferring more torque to the driven wheel that needs it most, rather than it being split equally between both wheels; this prevents the rear wheels trying to push the front wheels wide when cornering.

CHASSIS, SUSPENSION & STEERING

Both M12 models use bodies made from GRP, under which lies an all steel space frame with bonded and riveted alloy panels; the total weight for the GTO-3 is extremely light, with a kerbweight of just 1050kgs, while the GTO-3R adds an extra 30kgs, due to better soundproofing. Continuing the race-bred theme is double wishbone suspension all round, with alloy uprights and Bilstein shock absorbers.

A key element of the Noble M12's success has been its ability to combine fine on-road dynamics with safe and predictable handling on a race circuit. A hydraulically power assisted steering rack, with 2.6 turns from lock to lock is quick enough to make fast-road or track driving rewarding, yet comfortable enough when small corrections are needed on the motorway. The M12 also has a very supple ride over a wide range of surfaces, meaning that it's an entirely practical proposition for everyday use. Yet incredibly, it can be driven on a race circuit with hardly a trace of body-roll, and remains composed and controllable at very high speeds.

Servo assisted, four-piston calliper brakes with ventilated discs (330mm diameter front, 326mm diameter rear) are fitted all round and both cars wear 225/40 ZR 18 tyres at the front and 265/35 ZR 18s at the back.
INTERIOR & EQUIPMENT

Both the GTO-3 and the GTO-3R come as standard with a fully trimmed safety roll cage, race harnesses (in addition to inertia reel belts), a leather Momo steering wheel and adjustable seats and steering column. The 3R adds a full leather interior, a Sony CD/tuner with column mounted remote control, an engine start button and fitted leather map pockets.

PERFORMANCE

There are few cars in the world that accelerate as quickly as the Noble M12 GTO-3 and the Noble M12 GTO-3R. Not only do they both have massive traction off the line, thanks to their mid-engine design, but they also have potent levels of torque from low down in the engine's rev-range. This means that there is practically no 'lag' before the turbochargers start working, making the Noble a particularly effortless and easy car to drive fast.

Auto Express magazine tested the Noble GTO-3R and achieved the following set of acceleration figures using Racelogic satellite-driven timing equipment at a private test facility.

0-60mph (0-97kmh) 3.7 seconds
0-100mph (0-160kmh) 8.8 seconds
30-70mph (48-113kmh) through gears 3.2 seconds
30-50mph (48-80kmh) in third gear 2.0 seconds
40-60mph (64-97kmh) in fourth gear 2.5 seconds
50-70mph (80-113kmh) in fifth/sixth gears 3.5/6.1 seconds

Top speed 170mph

Braking from 60mph (97kmh) 38.2 metres

NOBLE M14 (2004)

NOBLE M14 (2004)
Having conquered the specialist sports car market over the last five years, Noble Automotive is now launching an all-new model, which will firmly establish it at the quality end of the supercar market.

The British Noble M14 is set to take on rivals, such as the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari 360 Modena, with a tantalising mix of class-leading dynamics, prodigious performance, a finely crafted and well equipped cabin, and levels of practicality that will appeal to owners who wish to use their car every day.

Head of design, Lee Noble, said of the M14: "We aim to catch an entirely new audience with this model, one that cares as much about the grade of leather used in the cabin as how fast the car will accelerate to 100mph. We also anticipate that M14 buyers will demand 'jump-in-and-drive' convenience, without any sacrifice in exclusivity or sophistication. I'm satisfied that these criteria have been achieved without any compromise."

Priced at 74,950, the M14 will be the flagship of the Noble range, falling into place above the existing M12 models. The new line up looks like this:

Noble M14 74,950 (new)
Noble M400 55,995 (new)
Noble M12 GTO-3R 49,950
Noble M12 GTC 44,950 (new)
Noble GTO-3 47,950

EXTERIOR DESIGN

The 2004 British Motor Show will see the Noble M14 unveiled for the first time. Far from being a mere concept, the show car's styling, interior, drivetrain and chassis represent what will reach production when the car goes on sale in October this year.

From the M14's conception, Lee Noble has focused on creating a form that eschews current design trends, and majors on a far more emotive shape, led by broad, sweeping curves along the car's flanks, an aggressive front treatment and a graceful - yet imposing - rear end.

"Passion has dominated the M14's design philosophy," says Lee, "but we've also ensured that the car has a thoroughly bespoke feel in its detailing."

This fact is obvious when you look more closely at the car: beautifully engineered door handles, hewn from billets of aluminium; six circular rear light lenses, which make reference to legendary supercars from the past; the rear screen, which reveals the engine's plenum chamber protruding above the perforated aluminium engine cover; and the body-coloured rear diffuser, which cuts deep into the rear panel, highlighting the twin exhausts which exit from its centre. Overall, 95 per cent of the components which make up the M14 (excluding the drivetrain) are distinct from the current M12 series of cars, and an additional 70 per cent of components are now made in house, compared with previous Noble models.

While the M14 retains the current M12's wheelbase, its length has grown by 178mm to 4267mm and its width by 50mm to 1935mm. As a result, more space has been liberated in the cabin, compared with the M12, and there are now two luggage compartments, one behind the engine, and one at the front of the car. This increase in size has also helped Noble incorporate significant crash protection in the doors, and deformable sections at the front and rear of the M14, with a view to it achieving full European Type Approval in the future.

Lee Noble's provenance as a designer of performance cars has been well-documented, and it's this experience which has ensured that the aerodynamics of the M14 will create exceptional stability, as well as an estimated top speed of 190mph.

DRIVETRAIN & PERFORMANCE

Noble has chosen again to adopt a highly-modified version of Ford's 3.0-litre V6, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, for use in the M14. The unit, which in base form also powers certain Jaguar cars, has proved particularly durable in five years of Noble M12 development and production.

Like the GTO-3R and M400 models, the engine employs twin turbochargers, but uses an engine map developed specifically for the M14. In common with the 425bhp M400 model, the M14 will gain forged pistons to ensure durability. Maximum power will be 400bhp at 6100rpm, with a wholesome 385lb ft of torque at 4750rpm. Estimated performance will be 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds, 0-100mph in 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 190mph.

But crude benchmark figures tell only half the story. The Noble M14's power delivery has been fine-tuned to exploit much of the engine's potential with minimal effort. In-gear acceleration should be class-leading, with over 90 per cent of the engine's torque available at just 2750rpm. And in typical Noble style, the engine will be placid and tractable from as low as 1000rpm, highlighting the M14's versatility in every day driving conditions. A cultured exhaust note has been engineered to excite the senses under acceleration, but remain civilised at cruising speeds.

Twin intercoolers now feature in the M14, and are mounted behind each rear wheel arch. This location has two clear advantages: it creates vital space at the back of the car for a luggage compartment; and cooler air can now be ducted over each internal wheel arch cover, rather than above the engine, improving the efficiency of the intercoolers.

The ratios in the M14's six-speed gearbox have been designed to specifically match its power and torque characteristics, complementing the engine's linear delivery. In top gear the M14 pulls 26.5mph per 1000rpm, giving it a remarkably relaxed cruising gate, with 70mph registering just over 2600rpm. This gearbox, which is mated to an automatic torque-biasing differential, has received extensive development in Noble's even more powerful M400 model, and has proved exceptionally durable. A completely new gearshift mechanism, offering drivers slick, finger-light changes, completes the package.

INTERIOR & PACKAGING

One of Lee Noble's design briefs was to create a cabin for the M14 that conveyed a feeling of expensiveness, by paying special attention to textures, finish and feel.

Trimmed in the finest Italian leather (Noble uses the same supplier as Ferrari for the M14) there is no mistaking the M14 cabin's aura of quality and luxury. The padded leather extends throughout the cabin, and is complimented by grey Alcantara roof lining and a gear tunnel and centre console formed in a gunmetal-coloured composite material. The floor and some lower sections of the cabin are trimmed in deep, 80 per cent wool carpet. There are even leather sill pads, incorporating the 'Noble' logo, for drivers to lean against while exiting the car.

The stunning and sumptuous seats, which will be standard in all M14s are manufactured specifically for Noble. They feature a carbon fibre frame, for strength and lightness, and are trimmed in the same top-grade leather seen elsewhere in the cabin. Both seats incorporate fore and aft adjustment, as well as reclining backrests and tilt adjustment.

More occupant space has been created in the cabin by reducing the width of the gear tunnel and re-designing the floorpan. As a result, the M14 has a maximum 1160mm of legroom for driver and passenger (up 30mm on that found in the current M12) and 950mm of headroom (M12 + 20mm). We would expect occupants of up to 6' 5" to sit comfortably in the M14's cabin.

Equipped like no other Noble, the M14 will come with the following:

Electric windows
Electric/heated door mirrors
Air conditioning
Heated windscreen with integral aerial
Satellite Navigation (option)
Multi-function dashboard display
Central locking
Alarm/immobiliser

Noble's key objective when designing the control layout of the M14, was to allow the driver to focus on the road ahead, and not on a plethora of switches outside of his/her peripheral vision. For this reason, the most frequently used functions are performed by a bank of six buttons located on the steering wheel boss. From here, the driver can operate the hazard warning lights, heated windscreen/mirrors and multi-function display housed in the instrument cluster (which in turn gives data on water temperature, turbo boost, oil pressure and trip mileage). The remaining buttons control the front and rear boot, and fuel-filler cap releases.

As a result, the main dashboard and console area is clutter free. A distinctive cylindrical air vent sprouts from each corner of the dashboard, in addition to secondary face vents mounted on the centre console. Above these are the three air conditioning controls and a CD-tuner, which can also incorporate satellite navigation as a cost option. Two column stalks take care of windscreen wiper/washer and indicator functions.

The instrument cluster comprises a speedometer and revcounter, the graphics and needles of which glow blue when the ignition is switched on. As the engine revs rise, the revcounter's needle changes from blue to pink as it sweeps past the 4100rpm increment, and from pink to red from 6100rpm to the 7200rpm engine cut out. All illuminated controls dim automatically when the headlights are switched on.

A total of seven, trimmed storage areas are spread around the M14's cabin, reinforcing the car's remit as a practical, everyday device. There are two leather-covered bins located on the inside of each sill (rather than on the doors, where belongings are prone to rattle more) a deep open shelf in front of the passenger and driver, and a central cubby behind the handbrake lever.

In addition to cabin stowage, the M14 has two, carpeted luggage compartments, one at the front of the car, and one behind the engine bay. Each compartment holds approximately 150 litres, offering ample capacity for two people's luggage, with access being gained to each via electro-magnetic switches on the steering wheel.

CHASSIS & CONSTRUCTION

The M14's chassis has been adapted from that used on the highly praised Noble M12. Despite the change in design emphasis with the M14, it was felt that the inherent suppleness in the M12's ride, combined with its class leading levels of grip and composure, would lend itself perfectly to the new car's design philosophy. Consequently, the existing chassis has been refined - rather than significantly changed - to suit the M14.

All M14 bodies will be made from vinylester GRP composite (Noble may also consider carbon fibre in future), built over a steel spaceframe, which is reinforced with bonded and riveted alloy panels. A full roll over cage extends around the inside of the M14's cabin, adding strength to what will be our stiffest production structure to date.

Suspension is by double wishbones all round, with coil springs and alloy uprights. Rack and pinion steering, with hydraulic power assistance is geared to 2.5 turns from lock to lock, offering a far tighter turning circle than the current M12.

Since the weight of the M14 has only grown by 70kgs to 1150kgs, it is anticipated that the immensely powerful braking system from the M12, comprising 330mm ventilated discs all round, with four-piston callipers, will be more than adequate for this application. A switchable traction control system, working through the car's ECU, will provide security when the car is being driven in adverse conditions.

For the M14, Noble has adopted a completely new design of ten-spoke wheel. Rim size at the rear has increased from 10 to 11J and at the front 8J rims are used. Tyre sizes also increase from 265/35 x 18 to 295/35 x 18 at the rear and from 225/40 x 18 to 235/40 at the front. The show car wears the latest Bridgestone SO-2 rubber, which Noble hopes to employ when the car reaches production.

FIAT
Fiat S.p.A., an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino[3] (English: Italian Automobile Factory of Turin), is an Italian automobile manufacturer, engine manufacturer, financial and industrial group based in Turin in the Piedmont region. Fiat was founded in 1899 by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. Fiat has also manufactured tanks and aircraft. As of 2009, Fiat is the world's 6th largest carmaker as well as Italy's largest carmaker.

Fiat-based cars are constructed all around the world, with the largest number produced outside Italy being built in Brazil (best seller[5]). It also has factories in Argentina and Poland. Fiat has a long history of licensing its products to other countries regardless of local political or cultural persuasion. Joint venture operations are found in Italy, France, Turkey, India, Serbia and Russia.

Agnelli's grandson Gianni Agnelli was Fiat chairman from 1966 until his death on 24 January 2003; from 1996, though, he only served as an "honorary" chairman, while Cesare Romiti served as chairman. After their removal, Paolo Fresco served as chairman and Paolo Cantarella as CEO. Umberto Agnelli then took over as chairman from 2002 to 2004. After Umberto Agnelli's death on 28 May 2004, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was named chairman, but Agnelli heir John Elkann became vice chairman at age 28 and other family members are on the board. At this point, CEO Giuseppe Morchio immediately offered his resignation. Sergio Marchionne was named to replace him on 1 June 2004.

Automotive
Fiat Group is the largest vehicle manufacturer in Italy, with a range of cars starting from small Fiat city cars to sports cars made by Ferrari, and vans and trucks ranging from the Ducato to Iveco commercial trucks. Besides Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A, the Fiat Group automotive companies include Ferrari S.p.A., Iveco S.p.A. and Maserati S.p.A. The Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A. companies include: Abarth & C. S.p.A., Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A., Fiat Automobiles S.p.A., Fiat Professional and Lancia Automobiles S.p.A.. Ferrari S.p.A. is 85% owned by the Fiat Group, but is run autonomously.

The European Car of the Year award, Europe's premier automotive trophy for the past 40 years, has been awarded twelve times to the Fiat Group, more than any other manufacturer. Most recently the Fiat Nuova 500 has won the award for European Car of the Year 2008.
