Will use Toyota Hybrid System-Racing technology

Toyota has announced plans to stage the global debut of the Hybrid-R concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10th.

The company didn't have much to say about the model but described it as an "exciting new concept for [the] road and track." It will also feature Toyota Hybrid System-Racing (THS-R) technology which has previously been used on the TS030 race car which came in second place at the 24 hours of Le Mans earlier this year.

The announcement leaves us with more questions than answers but the TS030 features a naturally-aspirated 3.4-liter V8 engine that develops 530 bhp (395 kW) and a capacitor-based hybrid system that can automatically deliver a 300 bhp (224 kW) boost of power when needed.

Toyota says additional information will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for full details.
